The Museum School
We are starting with two pilot schools, one is the Museum School of Avondale Estates (“Museum School”), located in Decatur, Georgia!

They serve grades K-8
They serve ~588 students in grades K-8 within a 86,000 square foot facility.
They are a charter school
The Museum School is a member of the Georgia Charter Schools Association.
They embrace exploration
They offer exploratory classes that focus on STEM and the arts.
Why the Museum School?
There were several reasons! We are familiar with the school and leadership team since we have kiddos there. Aside from that, we felt they offered an excellent opportunity for us to learn how to scale this initiative. For instance…
They embody diversity
They have a diverse student population. In 2023-2024, the top four demographic breakdowns were 48.3% White, 33.6% Black, 7.4% Hispanic, and 4.0% Asian. In addition, 36% received free or reduced lunch, meaning they required financial assistance.
We value this diversity (spanning ethnicity and income levels) as it lets us see our impact on various students.
They are independent
They are a charter school, a DeKalb County and Georgia State Board of Education-approved organization. As a charter school, they are afforded independence, making partnering with an organization like ours easier.
That partnership will enable us to learn, grow, and refine our vision.
The museum model
The museum school model is based on the idea that children learn best through personal exploration and hands-on experience. The school partners with museums and other learning institutions to provide real-life experiences with classroom topics. We love this innovative yet practical approach to education.
